Digital technology is today’s reality. As Ricaurte Precision has grown, we’ve jumped ahead of many other companies by prioritizing the digitization of our precision machining company to drive accountability, efficiency, and traceability.
However, we also understand the risks that digitization presents. There were over 4,100 publicly disclosed data breaches in 2021 alone, and the number has only increased.
You can rest assured that we have strict measures in place to protect our customers’ information and work with our digital technology partners to effectively manage controlled unclassified information (CUI).
How Our Precision Machining Company Protects Your Information
RPI is currently in the process of complying with the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification, or CMMC. The requirements of this certification, outlined by the US Department of Defense, are a guideline for fortifying sensitive information against cybersecurity attacks.
The final requirements for CMMC are still being developed. But very soon, CMMC compliance will be mandatory for defense vendors.
By becoming CMMC compliant, RPI will ensure the continuous protection of customer information in every facet of our business, from the moment an order is placed to after parts leave our precision machining facility. We expect to be compliant with Level 2 of CMMC in March 2024.
The steps we’re taking to achieve CMMC compliance include:
- Creating a system security plan
- Ensuring secure quoting and order entry
- Providing information security training for employees
- Restricting information access within our company
- Installing security measures like firewalls and multi-factor authentication
Moving ahead of other precision machining companies
While many suppliers are still months or even years away from achieving CMMC compliance, RPI’s decision to embrace digital technologies early on has put us ahead of the game.
In the past two years, we’ve formed strategic partnerships with companies like ProShop and Paperless Parts that are at the cutting edge of information security developments.
Nearly all the information in our company, from tool lists to spec sheets, is contained and organized within our ERP system and requires Ricaurte credentials to access.
Our secure software restricts information use when we share it with third parties. For example, Paperless Parts allows us to dictate a time frame for the information to be accessible and prohibits third parties from downloading files.
Going above and beyond to ensure information security
Achieving and maintaining CMMC compliance is just one of the ways we protect customer information.
Last year, we completed our implementation of Secure Enterprise Asset Management, or SEAM. With SEAM, a secure third party monitors every instance of electronic information exchange at RPI to ensure maximum security management for our customers. If the algorithm identifies a strange interaction, we receive an alert immediately.
We also meet quarterly with an information security professional. We review our IT needs in these meetings and outline our goals for the next three to six months. The information security professional helps us identify areas to improve and determine how to increase security for specific projects.
